Our Story
To be authentic is to be the author of our lives
The organization began with a stimulus when the founder was blind. During his childhood, he approached various schools. His parents knocked at the doors of almost 74 schools. However, the response was subtle rejections, solely based on the reason that he was blind. The response came in really different tones – some said, “you can come back to us” and the others said, “we do not have necessary facilities”. These cynic rejections were one of the major impetus for setting up the organization. However, his life slowly started revitalizing and a few people started accepting him for his different abilities. Help and support came from various sources – parents, sibling, maternal grandparents, volunteers and fostered family (to name a few). Being a visionary, the founder has never failed in inspiring many lives. He wishes that the differently abled community does not go through discrimination.
Ms. Kruthika N, the Co-founder and CEO of Samatva is a student of Law. She has been a witness to the injustices and social discrimination that prevails in society with regard to the visually impaired. Having volunteered in various NGOs, she has been instrumental towards gender sensitization, moral uprightness and a just society. She is a former Hon'ble Supreme Court and Hon'ble High Court Intern. She completely opposed the plight that poor children and women witness in matters of education and employment. Consequently, both wanted to establish an organization to empower people and share their bit of talent to society. Today, the organization has provided various webinars, and conferences and has succeeded in providing pro bono legal services for the blind, reaching about 78 people. It has motivated women to pursue basic education and has helped recruit many differently able with suitable job posts.
The organization is growing to be a better and more influential one and we hope you make your contribution in this journey. No contribution is less or more... All your help counts! Do volunteer with us... No matter who you are, your contribution makes a difference.
